 Abstract

An experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University farm, Dhaka to study the response of chickpea (cv. BARI chhola-5) to integrated nitrogen and irrigation management during November 2006 to March 2007. The trial comprised ten combined treatments of 20 30 and 40 kg N ha-1 applyed full as basal or in split with or without irrigation along with a control. Results showed that N fertilization with irrigation increased yield of chickpea. Application of 15 kg N ha -1 as basal and 15 kg N ha-1 as split with one irrigation at flower initiation stage (55 days after sowing) gave higher yield (1.70 t ha-1) of chickpea. Plants grown without nitrogen fertilizer and irrigation (control) gave the lowest yield (0.84 t ha-1).
