 Abstract

The experiment was carried out in the field of Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), Mymensingh, during the period from 15 November 2003 to 10 March 2004 to study some physiological parameters, chemical contents, nutritional values and yield of three pea genotypes (Exotic-I, IPSAMotorshuti-2 and IPSAMotorshuti-3). The experiment was conducted in a Randomized Complete Block Design with seven replications. Data were collected on leaf Chlorophyll content, flower production and abscission (%), soluble protein and amino acid content in leaf, protein content in grain, sugar content, N, Ca, Mg and K content in green seed and yield (green pods plant-1). Varieties showed significant differences for all the parameters studied except N content of green seed among which the Exotic-1 performed better for all the characters except amino acid, soluble protein and chlorophyll content which were more in IPSAMotorshuti-3. IPSAMotorshuti-2 had intermediate quantities of leaf chlorophyll content and also soluble protein, amino acid, protein, N, Ca, Mg and K contents in green seeds.

Key words: Pea, Physiological parameters, Nutritional values, Chemical content and Yield
